TBS Book Two Sneak Peek – Prologue

final-2_02The man looked down at the young woman tied to the chair. His heart raced in his chest with a strangling mix of rage and excitement. He was about to give her what she deserved for lying and cheating and pretending to be something that she wasn’t. He would be her punishment.

He felt lightheaded with anticipation. He felt almost like God with the power he had to punish these whores for their transgressions.  He paced back and forth behind the chair, behind the bitch so she couldn’t see him. It was all part of his game, the build-up to the final act. He lifted a vicious looking knife up in front of his eyes, the razor’s edge of it gleaming and reflecting the fire in his eyes. He was mesmerized by the silver light that shone off the steel.

She was terrified. She didn’t know how she had ended up here like this. There was a fuzzy gap in her memory, the faint memory of a needle’s sharp sting, and then she had woken up here, tied and bound and gagged. The only thing she was sure of was that she was going to die.

Her attacker kind of looked familiar but she wasn’t sure. Was he someone she knew? The lighting in this room was dim, and her mind was still fuzzy. She couldn’t keep any thought in her mind except for one.

She needed to escape.

He paced, like a caged animal. It was getting close to the time, and the feeling was building inside of him and he knew he had to do it soon. Had to let it out so that he could feel better for a while. Just a while. The buzz was lasting less and less each time. He needed this release more frequently. He was like a drug addict who needed more and more of his chosen painkiller to get the same high.

Good thing there was no end to the supply of whores. Like this one here.

She felt it when he put the tip of the blade against the skin of her throat. Her body tensed, rigid with fear. She was going to die! He yanked her head back painfully and she looked up into his face and she could see him clearly for the first time.

He saw the flare of recognition in her eyes finally, the unspoken question. He didn’t bother explaining it to her. She’d be dead soon. It wouldn’t matter what she knew.

He pierced her skin with the knife, just a bit, just enough to let one precious drop of blood trickle out. The rage was a red hot fire now. It was everything. It flooded his veins and soothed him. He hadn’t really wanted to kill this girl. She had been very nice to him and he’d felt an unusual amount of regret at ending her life. But it was necessary.

For a while he’d thought that maybe he could replace Kimberley
Davenport with this girl because Kimberley had become too well known and it was getting harder to get access to her. That happened when you became a world famous model. He wasn’t responsible for this. Kimberley was. If she hadn’t suddenly disappeared then his rage wouldn’t have gotten so out of control. All she had to do was admit she loved him. That was all.

The need to kill had become overwhelming after she left. Now, it was worse. Sated a little by this whore’s blood, but not gone. He paced the room. He had done everything he could to get Kimberley to love him. He had been leaving her lots of wonderful gifts, gifts that had come from each of these whores, these want-to-be Kimberley’s. Why didn’t she appreciate the effort he had been putting into their relationship? Why was she running away from him?

Where could she have gone? She knew her home was with him…

A thought occurred to him.  Of course. Her home. Why hadn’t he thought of it before? He knew exactly where she’d gone. She would have gone back home, where she would think she was safe from him. She didn’t need to be safe from him. She had nothing to fear. He only wanted to love her. Only wanted her to feel the love he had for her.

That thought was punctuated by him slashing the knife across the bitch’s throat. Blood sprayed everywhere and his rage was sated like a dry sponge soaking up pure water. He would be good now. For a while.

He knew where Kimberley had gone. She would have gone back home to Tempest Beach.
